In 1999 she moved to Athens to study Byzantine music with maestro Lycourgos Angelópoulos, and also spent a season taking part in singing studies with the renowned bass Paolo Montarsolo in Rome.
In 2000 Samia was the soprano soloist in the world premiere of Osvaldo Golijov’s La Pasión Según San Marcos in Stuttgart, Germany. This performance was recorded live by Hänssler Classic and later nominated for Grammy Awards and Grammy Latino 2001.
On her return to Venezuela in 2003, she had an active role on the board of professors and conductors of El Sistema (Venezuela's National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs) where she has also relied on maestro Gerald Wirth’s mentoring and long-term guidance for choir conductors across the country.
Samia has played an active role in CAF’s Música Para Crecer programme in partnership with the Schola Cantorum of Venezuela Foundation, lecturing and mentoring music apprentices all over Latin America.
Samia has served the board of professors and conductors of El Sistema, has been regional coordinator for choirs in the state of Miranda, and a professor of singing technique for the Academic Program for Young Professors and Orchestra Conductors.
Since 2019, she has turned her focus to volunteer work, collaborating with the charity organisation Art Bridges in the Kará Tepé refugee camp, with Greek-Romani children on the island of Lesbos, and in Athens with El Sistema Greece. Samia joined the team of teachers and choir directors at the Vienna Boys Choir Summer Music Academy that took place in Hong Kong in 2019, and has concurrently been contributing to the formation of emerging leaders (together with maestro Gregory Carreño) giving masterclasses to young directors and singers across Latin American countries.
Since her recent move to Florida, she has been giving singing lessons and vocal coaching both remotely and in person. Samia constantly endeavours to contribute to the development of music across the globe.
