Erasmus Baumgartner

Introduction:
Austrian-born Erasmus Baumgartner began his musical education with the St. Florian Boys’ Choir (St. Florianer Sängerknaben) near Linz in Upper Austria. At the age of seventeen he went on to study voice at the Anton Bruckner Private University, where he specialised in choir and ensemble direction.
After nine years of teaching, he embarked on postgraduate studies in instrumental and vocal pedagogy at Salzburg’s prestigious Mozarteum University, and during this time he co-founded the internationally-awarded choir Academy Singers with Manfred Payrhuber.
As vocal coach at the Vienna Boys Choir from 2010-2014, it was a further teaching engagement that led Baumgartner to the Vienna State Opera in 2014. Currently he holds the position of deputy artistic director of the acclaimed Vienna Boys Choir (Die Wiener Sängerknaben).
